Seizure and Epilepsy
The Seizure and Epilepsy Foundation (SEF) is a Nigerian-based, non-governmental, nonprofit organization founded to serve individuals living with epilepsy and seizure disorders. We are committed to breaking the stigma, providing free holistic care, and promoting awareness and education for a condition that continues to be misunderstood across many communities in Africa.

Our Origin Story

SEF was officially launched in October 2024 by Dr. Bolaji Alliu Atunrase, a distinguished Islamic scholar and health practitioner known for combining traditional healing with modern therapeutic approaches.
The inspiration came after a powerful moment in his clinic, where a neurologist pleaded for help treating a young girl experiencing repeated seizures. Through cupping therapy and consistent follow-up, her seizures were eliminated—a moment that changed everything for Dr. Atunrase.
Recognizing the suffering of many who lack access to neurological care or cannot afford standard treatments, Dr. Atunrase vowed to establish an organization that provides free, accessible intervention and education to underserved individuals battling seizures and epilepsy across Nigeria and beyond.
Meet the Founder – Dr. Bolaji Alliu Atunrase

Dr. Atunrase is the founder of Al-Monan Hijama Cupping Therapy Ltd, a respected wellness brand with multiple clinics across Lagos. He is certified by international bodies including the International Hijama Institute and holds advanced knowledge in chiropractic therapies and natural medicine. Also serving as a respected Imam, Dr. Atunrase bridges faith, science, and community service in a rare, impactful way.
His leadership is rooted in compassion, equity, and a lifelong mission to serve the voiceless—especially those suffering from illnesses wrongly associated with spiritual causes, shame, or fear.
Our mission is simple but urgent:
To create a society where every person living with epilepsy or seizures receives proper medical care, emotional support, and is free from discrimination.
A Nigeria (and Africa) where epilepsy is no longer feared or hidden, but understood, treated, and supported — with equity, empathy, and action.
